Happy Bunday #1: Bunny Art

It's no secret that I have an insatiable fascination with bunny rabbits. Sorry, did I say fascination? I meant obsession. Yep, I simply cannot get enough of the fluffy little things. Every single time that I look at my own little bunnster, Danger, I am overcome by how simply ahdorable she is (especially when she lays on the ground with her little legs stretched way out behind her! Awwww!)

As such, I have decided upon a new regular post, hence the title of this one. Each will be themed. This first one is about bunny art. Ie, art featuring bunnies. Not art made by bunnies, though that would be impossibly cute.

5 Minute DIY: Bright and Sparkly Hangers

You may or may not have noticed by now that I have a bit of a "thing" for nanna hangers. Though this admission may make you cringe, there are a couple of reasons why I nab lovely ones every time I get the chance; for starters they're so gosh darn colourful. I really only go for the brightly coloured and/or intricately designed ones. Secondly, I just love that some nanna, somewhere, sometime, put great care into crocheting or weaving or knitting a soft, comfy cover for their hangers, to keep their clothes all nice and not stretched in the shoulders. Or perhaps they made it for a loved one, who knows?

Either way, I love them.

So for a while now I've been pondering and planning, thinking about making some of my own. I'm too impatient for a crochet hook, some goes for knitting, so I dug around in my jaars and boxes of crafty stuff and pulled out the following things:

A ball of wool (you will need approximately 4 metres)
A plain wooden hanger
Fringed trim as long as the hanger

Then I did the following things:

1. I ran the trim along the wood of the hanger, from end to end.

2. I doubled over the wool and used it to tie the trim to the end of the hanger, as close to the edge as I could.

3. I then wrapped the wool around the trim and the hanger together, about every 5mm, from end to end.

4. Then I flipped the hanger over and, tada!

Super cute, right?

They're not overly cushiony but they are really good for slippery dresses and boatnecked tops, you know, those things you have hanging in your closet that constantly fall off the hangers?

Thrifting like a super thrifty laydee.

I went thrifting again,

It's what I do, yo.

This time I picked up a couple of pieces from one of my favourite shops, uTurn in Newtown, who were having their *sniff* end of lease sale!

They're going, and that's sad, but the silver lining is that they're having a big sale, everything is $10.

The other bits and pieces are from all around.

Ooh! Also I just realised that I forgot to mention the birthday gift that I got from the very sweet and generous Miss Cate, A Polaroid 300! I haven't used it much fro the blog so thought I might as well whip it out today.

Death by chocolate.

This is my friend/housemate, Mckenzie...

I'm pretty sure she's trying to kill me.

You see, she came to stay with us a couple of months ago. She was having a bit of a rough time so Chantelle, AJ and I offered her our little couch for as long as she needs. For the first little while she thanked us by cleaning. And by cleaning, i mean cleaning. She cleaned things around here that I'm not sure had ever been cleaned properly (like our oven). We were awfully grateful. Thing is, after that she started baking, a lot. A lot.

Everything from chocolate cupcakes with giant choccy chunks...

To ahhhmahhhzingly creamy chocolate ice-cream filled with proper organic cocoa...

To ridiculously decadent mousse...

And perfectly delightful mini cheesecakes, and chocolate tarts.

The problem is, I can't stop eating all of the delicious food that keeps popping up in our fridge! "Hey guys, chocolate dipped raspberries in the fridge, EAT THEM!"

Oh, well, if I must...

Love you Mac, don't ever leave!
